atomic ranch

2013

A new take on the classic ranch style house, the Atomic Ranch opened the traditional plan to the outside, bringing light and views to every corner of the 912 SF house. With intentional nods to Mid-century modern design, the single-story residence takes on an expansive appearance despite its modest footprint. Taking advantage of Hood River Oregon's temperate microclimate conditions, the garage was built more as an open barn rather than a completely sealed enclosure, which furthered the rural, ranch style aesthetic while simultaneously saving money for the client. The project was realized on an extremely low budget, with building construction totaling less than $100/SF.
